I want less power and more storage. I want less than 10W idle for the whole system, maybe except HDDs, but even those will be in sleep much of the time. x86 boards are mostly ATX-powered and I don't think any ATX power source can go th

But self-building a NAS is still a problem, and I'm also talking about this [1] article from the same blog: There are NO low power NAS boards. I'm talking about something with an ARM CPU, no video, no audio, lots of memory (or S

Nicely said, but the reality is that no software is "perfected", just abandoned. Hell, even sysvinit had some big updates recently.

If this is triggered by a bit of bad weather, what would happen in a actual war conditions? Would they expect the planes to be better maintained then? Oh, just scrap it and build some more A-10s. And take some lessons in reliability, redund

Well, I can give you an example where the manufacturer didn't care about the risk: The Stago STA Compact (Max) automated coagulation analyzer. The first version of this analyzer ran MS-DOS. It worked fine, but it was a bit difficult to

We need a DNS server with a history database, not just a cache, preferably with a distributed history database. Visit a website and it was blocked by the "official" DNS? Declare the IP invalid in the webUI (or the browser plugin)

I didn't knew community/public whitelists exist, nor any browser extension that uses whitelists and blocks all other connections by default, like uMatrix does. Do you have any examples?

But it is intuitive... I don't know what you mean. You can't manage a whitelist with a single big red on/off button, if that's what you want.

It requires having dbus, it's for the popups, one of the things I said the kernel doesn't have. But unfortunately, IMHO, dbus is a much bigger privacy risk than not having a per-app firewall - it broadcasts everything that happens
