You will love the mechanical analog ballistic computers of 50's: http://www.boingboing.net/2010/05/19/how-a-1950s-ballisti.ht... It explains all the mechanics used for adders, integrators, differentiators, etc... very insightful.

When I programmed FORTRAN, there were much uglier things to shoot yourself in the foot with. For example, parameter lists in function calls were not checked: you pass in a double, and the function expects an integer? Good luck with that,

Very elegant algorithm, and nicely visualized, too. Closely related to the Voronoi Diagram is the Delaunay Triangulation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delaunay_triangulation "For modeling terrain or other objects given a set of sample p

I wish I could do this for application prototypes. But from experience I know that prototypes can take much more time than $15 justifies. Or maybe I could just accept the ideas which interest me. Hmmmm....

That's why I put a cache in front of my blog. The cache is only invalidated when the content of the article changes, or a comment is added. Works really great, page requests take about 10 msec cached, 200 msec uncached (on a shared hostin

Yes, and I severy dislike software where the 'UI bling' gets in the way of usability, or where the application author disregards my user preferences (like system colors and fonts) and tries to force his taste on me. So-called 'skinned' app

Sex sells! Depraved sex maybe even sells better. Remember Philips' V2000 video tape format? It went titsup because Philips wanted to project a 'decent image' of itself and didn't allow porn on V2000. The rest is history...

A long time ago, I also made these kinds of programs. That was on a PET 2001, and I didn't have the luxury of bitmaps back then. I would use the PET's graphic characters as 'actors', and POKE them to the video memory. It started with sim
