It depends on what your personal views are here. If you wanted the outcome of the case to be at least some money going towards opioid treatment, then this decision could jeopardize that outcome. However, if you thought that the Sackler fami

Yes, you are an old curmudgeon. Asking people to produce value for their platforms then turning around and expecting them to do it for free is pretty outlandish. You cannot name an industry where no unscrupulous individuals/companies h

We will never see Microsoft ship a major product like this and not have it bundled in to a windows update. (Rather than specific install) After their success with installing Teams, Microsoft has seen that the regulators will not proactively

Rewind.ai is the Mac version of this and many is the same talking points apply. However, it’s a third party tool, and as such isn’t enabled by default. I think most, if not all, of the overwhelmingly negative feedback is tied to this being

I mean, when you get down to it, if you do not trust the maker of your OS, you’re kind of already in a really bad spot. If you don’t trust Microsoft/Windows, you need to not be using it. I’m not sure this feature changes any real facts

While yes, this is the technical reason — it’s important to not overlook how non-technical people see LLMs. And not only that, how they are being marketed. I’m struggling to think of any comparable technology where the regular median users

I think it would be hard to argue the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, etc. are near market saturation for their audience— especially compared to the much more relevantly new Apple News+. Additionally, Apple News is not a media site, bu

I would assume that like most of these kinds of very public cases, they spent a significant amount of time building their case internally before committing to filing suit. Trying to guess at the internal machinations for how a bureaucracy s

“Complaint” may be underselling the Apple’s situation with iOS and iPadOS. They are getting forced in to change by the EU already and they are actively being sued by the US Department of Justice. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft c

The EU is very actively pursuing large tech companies over nearly this exact thing already. The EU commission could very easily decide that Microsoft is a gatekeeper (DMA) and cannot engage in this kind of behavior anymore.

I’ve used MacOS and Windows both every day for more than a decade. MacOS does have some “is this a bug or a dark pattern” situations, but it is in no way comparable to how much Microsoft pushes all this. It is more than a magnitude of diffe
