All I can suggest is look at the actual data and not the reporting on the data.

Also there's the problem of a lack of a control group in this data. If you asked people in an online questionnaire how the Coca-Cola corporation was affecting their mental health what sort of responses would you get?

I don't see any divisiveness nor politics on my feed. It's all baby pictures and vacation photos. Anecdotes are not data.

My favorite project in recent years was a little python service that I owned end to end. The rest of the company deployed into this god awful monolith but my service ran on a little forgotten AWS account where I had full control. Eventually

Yes, Black Americans have their own culture from music to literature to TV shows like Good Times and the Jeffersons. This is not seen as a bad thing here, it has produced many great things.

Well I'd say straight up bigotry is something quite different. Dunno what I'd do in that case, sounds difficult.

Is it really that hard to just ignore these things when your parents say them? I have Republican parents and I just smile and nod whenever they say something crazy. It's extremely easy.

Yeah it does seem like many of the "no contact" people are themselves childless. I doubt this is a coincidence.

Yeah and we still have video conferencing in remote world. I'm not sure why racism would cease to be an issue over zoom.

A while back I realized that I don't care about my career anymore: Promotions, politics, etc. I'm just going to work on what I enjoy. So far I'm a lot happier this way.
