Pretty much, but if you have some good knowledge of what the distributions of neighboring pixels must look like (e.g. the l1 norm error used here wouldn't be enough, I believe) then I think you'd be surprised at the outcome.

This is super interesting; how does it compare to other sampling algorithms? While the problem is indeed reducible; it also has a lot more structure than TSP, especially if we note that natural images are forced to come from some nice, un

I see, okay; I caught that point in the article through the first part, but the latter part got me stuck back on the same point hence the question. Thank you for the clarification.

Wait, but I thought the question being posed wasn't about the computational complexity of any model but about the power of a given computational model relative to another (e.g. the subject of the CT thesis). Even if we're talking

This is an interesting article, but I'm still fairly confused about the notion that is made >Harper’s attack on the utility of machine models and lack of modularity is tantamount to an architect saying to a chemist, “both of our dis

Interesting. I'm still wondering about why we should use analytical solutions for shapes rather than meshes? What all is the general advantage? It seems like now we have enough computational power to not have to worry about such analyt

In general, very, very few things in nature follow a power law. And, either way, like is stated, it is fairly difficult (if not impossible) to even make sense of what is a power law---notably, in phenomenological cases, power laws have no
