Some ISPs use MAC address filtering. HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coaxial) and FttN (Fiber to the Node) are such examples. The rest of them if you don't have a static IP or an internet routable address, use NAT (Network Address Translation) and i

It's not immediately obvious to a non US resident what that would be so a common courtesy would be to describe what the initialism was on its first use. I wouldn't expect anyone to know what BNE (Brisbane) or DAR (Darwin) meant at

Its really not that hard. Just don't fuck around with backups, throw them all into Backblaze B2, S3 or what ever else. I have the same setup as the person you're commenting to, initial setup was easy. Just test out your backup str

My ISP has one of the better options where you can permanently lease an IPv4 address for a deposit of $100 AUD. The lease is indefinite, and when you don't want it any more you get the $100 back.

I honestly thought a second bash wouldn't help, but it's worth a crack. I'll give it a go.

The last time I checked, you can't change this to use anything but Edge either.

Yeah I'll do the same and report back. Might make a Show HN to talk about it. I need to better understand how updates work however, turning off auto updates is a concern. So I'll mostly be focusing on usability and how updates are

More likely a reflection of my partner and I's diet. A lot of broths, soups and similar. Even 30 minutes of the plate being static in the dishwasher means the food dries on and sticks. We don't rinse our plates, just scrape them.

What I've noticed is it's heavily dependent on the dishwasher. I've not had the privilege of having a new dishwasher till my most recent place, all the dishwashers prior have been 10+ years old. This new one though which is a

I'd say from this thread, it's also difficult to make an informed decision on my what the city is like. Especially from two anecdotes like this. Like always, it'll be some where in the middle.

That hurts to hear. I grew up in Hartlepool (North East of England), moved to Australia when I was 19 and I'm 35 now. I moved because I was stabbed, and can't count on one hand how many times I'd been assaulted and mugged in

What was your reason for loathing living in London? Edit: reason I ask is because I assume it's costs, I can't imagine your apartment was cheap. I don't see much evidence that even SWE's can comfortably live there.
