I can imagine running electric wires along tha tracks is a big challenge. However I think using the container BESS mentioned in the video above receiving trickle charge from the grid would leave opportunities for local solar generation to a

I just watched a YouTube video of a battery powered train in the UK [1]. If longevity and number of cycles is much higher than lithium ion coupled with a safer profile then I think this would be an ideal application for sodium ion. Really c

Nice job! That's a neat use case. Impressive too. You got texts, image generation using AI and storage and retrieval and display. All with a low cost. This would make a nice solution for a kiosk or displays you see in stores.

Another way to solve for clients that stick with an IP after resolving is to use a combination of DNS RR and Anycast (if you have control over the physical infra). That means you resolve with RR to an IP in the regional data center and then

I wonder if the leftover brine can be used further after drying it. Like as part of the mix for a building material and maybe for the construction of roads. Like part of the mix that goes right under asphalt.

I think the main issue is consolidation in many industries. Companies get big and keep getting richer and bigger. They gobble up smaller companies to grow and often competitors too. They milk the industries dry and stiffle innovation. You g

What an impressive feat. Sometimes makes you wonder how far the human body can adapt. It would also be cool to see a sped up video of what she saw. Say one hour representing the 108 days...

I can imagine this would be very useful for water desalination.

Good point. Actually I hope it happens (the socialized benefits) to all industries. In the past one of the reasons you committed to a corporation was for the benefits. From healthcare to retirement and stability. They are obviously not comm

I'm starting to wonder if the current employment model, at least in the tech sector, needs a change. Perhaps the health and retirement benefits needs to get offloaded to the government (with contributions from employee and employers si

It would be cool to make something similar for a pet feeder. Imagine having two cats (like we do). A skinny one and a fat one. AI would recognize them and dispense more food for the skinny one throughout the day. Hmm... :-)

Not sure it's that of an issue but it's been a long time since I worked in this space. I can imagine a higher rate of spin with maybe a (large enough) circular plate underneath the square wafer would do the trick.

I think you are arguing about centralized vs distributed models. They both have pros and cons. I think it depends what you are optimizing for. And likely you need both especially with 8+ billion people. For example in a centralized model th

I have a feeling that someday people are going to realize that the 1 or 2 EVs (with bidirectional power) in their home garage can handle most of the rooftop power storage needs. This would greatly remove the utilities out of the picture.

I don't this they were mismanaged. They spent a lot of effort and money on R&D and to learn the market and get certified. However executing on buildouts didn't workout. That doesn't mean another company couldn't buy

Really nice. Yes investments and money, capex and opex involved, but you know what? We need to get off the fossil fuel habit. The sooner the better.

IMO this needs government intervention. Not just in Canada but the US too. And I think it will require a multi prong approach. There is no one single solution but several needed concurrently. I think they (the government) needs to: 1. Build

Just an idea I thought about before... If wood chips are used to make particle boards then I wonder if plastic chips can be used in the mix say in a 50:50 ratio (or 70:30). The idea that perhaps hard plastic can be shredded to make particle

I used the Opera browser for a while then moved to Firefox. One functionality I really missed was the little popup you get when you highlight some text. The popup would let you web search for whatever is highlighted for example. Anyway now
