I don't write Rust often, and I think part of the issue is that the async/await style is encouraging you to write code that looks a lot like synchronous code, and so it makes it really easy to forget that your code is cancelable a

Speaking about payment methods, I wonder what's the sentiment on HN about the new Digital Euro thing. I've seen people claim it's the worst thing to ever happen and that governments will lock money and things like that. But p

Your examples are interested, but not comparable. In your list these are executables that change their own behaviour based on how they are called, whereas in the OP it's the OS changing code based on the name of an application.

Yes and no. The code patches are open source, alongside some new classes (that are mainly interfaces, and the patches add the implementations basically, and also hooks into their event system) Spigot themselves don't provide a link to

I'm also wondering why huge scale attacks like this don't happen for other package managers. Like, for rust, you can have a build.rs file that gets executed when your crate is compiled, I don't think it's sandboxed. Or a

That's what I use too on Bazzite, custom image for system level stuff, and home-manager for user-level stuff. The nice thing about Fedora Silverblue's model is that it is literally a container image, so to "build" your i
