Ok, so it's mostly a hardware issue then, a camera in burst mode continuously shooting at a lower FPS should theoretically work just as well. But indeed, if that works with a video, that's might be easier to use. You're talki

I was wondering why you choose to go with video data rather than photos. From what I know, for a given feature point, you would rather have pictures with really different point of views. It seems to me video would generate a lot of redund

It's probably also certified, and has been in the 737 for a very long time. Usually, if you see something old in a plane it's a matter of certification as it's a long and really, really expensive process. If the chip has en

Not the OP, but I think that's exactly what he meant. They have the responsibility to educate the future generations and yet have barely any leeway about how to do it.

No way the Chinese government would let a strategic asset be bought by an American company, especially nowadays.

I can't reply to js8 due to the indentation level, but that's somewhat new to me. Semi-direct democracy when people use the term seems more related to some occasions where everyone has a chance to participate in a decision, thro

To be fair, in a lot of place it is probably illegal to work those hours. Where I am from, 11pm to 6am are night hours and you need a special contract to be be able to work during those times. This contract is subject to restrictions (i.e.

In term of pure drag, you're right, you want to reduce the surface and that's not what this design does. However, for aerodynamic efficiency it is the lift/drag ratio that matters. And while in a normal airliner the body pr

France has a few territories in a rather similar situation, and possibly the Netherlands as well. They probably don't want to anger the UK because they might need their support in the future if the same kind of vote happens to them,

Had to report a missing person to Italian police a couple years ago, they send a missing person alert through WhatsApp with pictures of the missing person and some details. I was surprised they didn't have anything more official, but

Depends on the drones, but professional photogrammetry drones certainly do. You often have position (latitude, longitude and altitude in WGS-84), attitude (yaw, pitch, roll) which already contains the gimbal orientation (e.g. the drone ap

This is where I feel a bit better about targeted advertising, if they're not able (as in at least not cheaply enough to be worth it) to serve me an ad in a language I understand, they still have a long way to go. And that's in Swi

You mean theoretically or with the current hardware they are using? Given they are going for low cost mass produced, I doubt they have the necessary hardware, especially the highly accurate clocks. If you're speaking theoretically, yes

I highly doubt there's a commercial drone out there capable of doing that for more than a few seconds. And if there's one, the cost of the IMU alone would be a pretty strong deterrent against what just happened.

On the last issue, the problem is that it's pretty much impossible to enact the exact people's will because it is not consistent. Just have a look at the latest vote on EU ties. They want to keep the economic benefits but to restr

Lion Air flight on the new 737 Max I presume. It isn't exactly the autopilot at cause though according to initial reports, it's the anti-stall system pitching down due to a broken stall sensor, and the pilots not knowing how to

The Wingtra in the article is a VTOL fixed wing, not as easy to do as a quad. The other main drone from Switzerland is senseFly's eBee, again a fixed-wing mostly for photogrammetry. The drone in a cage they talk about is I think fl

Depends what you want to do with your drones, but 3.5k would be really low end. I think 5k is more realistic, and you're looking at 15-20k if you want high precision (rtk) drones. On the other end, it's probably not just any plane

Have you seen the size of a transponder? You're not going to put that in a drone doing 1h flights. They're about 1/2kg. 4G is more likely, but coverage can be an issue. The bigger drones that could carry one are much bigger

Not really composers, but Walter von der Vogelweide, or a trobador like Betran de Born are somewhat famous. At least they are one of the fews whose name and music have reached us after about a thousand years. But your point stands, music tr
