Facebook is highly efficient for communicating with a large number of "fringe" acquaintances. Things you suggest - picking up the phone, dropping an email - require 1-on-1 contact. I am limited in the amount of time I can devote to 1-on-1 c

Your keyboard example is poor. The point is to not be so ridiculously oversensitive to change as to freak out over very minor ones. Your example is on a whole other order of magnitude of chaos, and as such is not a valid comparison.

It's almost ridiculous how much. If such a minute change like this generates such a negative reaction from someone, how is that person going to handle real, serious change? Especially when this minute change was such an arbitrary thing to b

If you had spelled it "Babooshka" like Kate Bush, there's no way I could have refused to use this tool. I would have been "all yours". (For those too young to know who Kate Bush is, imagine if Lady Gaga took the effort she puts into weird &

I have been tempted to try again, and I can accept the idea that I just hit things at the exact wrong time. At this point, the main roadblock to trying Arch again hasn't been that past experience, but rather a very high level of satisfactio

I liked the idea of the rolling release, which is one of the reasons I was trying Arch in the first place. (And I was a Gentoo user before Ubuntu came along). But it's got to "roll" a little smoother than that. I understand some potholes he

Last time I used Arch, they had just moved to libjpeg7, which removed libjpeg6 and immediately broke a small army of programs that still required 6. The recourse for users was to manually manage a copy of libjpeg6 themselves, outside of the

I'm glad it's not called "Startup News" any more. I probably would have just glanced at the page and left. And then where would I find the kind of techy, software development article links that I regularly add to my company's wiki?

I find blog posts like this annoying. Someone takes a common phrase, reads it as if every word is meant in the most literal way possible, then takes pot-shots at it. I enjoy my work a lot, but after 5 days of it, I look forward to two days
