What is this guy's issue with Syntastic? If he's saying it's not for beginning Vim users, OK, fine. But "harmful plugin"? Like it's some sort of malware? Very poor form.

I think patch versus pull request is a valid complaint, but there's absolutely no reason to be snarky about it. Everything else just reeks of MS bashing that reinforces the negative view of the open source crowd that many on the MS side of

Don't get caught up on GitHub specifically. GitHub is just the most popular example of how projects don't need Apache to host them anymore, yet Apache still expects to do so, and worse, expects to assert a lot of restriction over it. The po

I don't like having my Vundle stuff cluttering up my .vimrc either. Which is why I have all of that extracted to a separate file, which .vimrc sources. I do this for a lot of things, allowing .vimrc to be purely about vim settings (and then

This is one of those things that's a novel idea when one person does it (particularly when that person still has a support staff available to field emails), but would be incredibly obnoxious if it were a common practice.

It seems to me, though, that there's room for all the people interested in developing a "for everyone" UI to rally around a single project. The people interested in making Unity/Gnome 3/etc aren't the people interested in making ratpoison.
