That's fine. For 95% of the queries you need, ActiveRecord-ish implementations are perfectly performant, and super readable. For the rest, they allow you to drop down to the SQL layer and specify exactly what you want or need.

The most recent edition of Make magazine had a pretty good overview of some different options. Doesn't go too much into depth but provides a good starting point.

I know your comment is, at least somewhat, in jest, but it's kind of true. My wife's boss has been spending a good bit of his workdays lately tracking and buying gold. But not buying physical gold. Just buying a promise from some

My contention is that there is very little actual political discussion happening there. It's mostly memes, upvoting parties, and tribalism. Any talk of "libs" or "liberals" is not based on any specific policies or i

It's misguided to think that T_D is about politics, because it's not. It's about identity. The politics here are incidental.

Why is it? Why should it be? What's so hard about understanding somebody's desire for their art to be in the world without violating the boundary between that and their personal life?

I'm not sure exactly what the author's thesis is. Yes, there are people that live in the city, and they don't all hang out at Caesars Palace every weekend. This is not news. What strikes me about the Las Vegas metro area, apa

That is election fraud, perpetrated by the people running the elections themselves, not voter fraud. If you can't trust the people running the elections, then no amount of voter ID is going to matter.

This is, in reality, a virtually nonexistent problem. It's often used as a rationale for voter suppression, though.
