No, when I worked someplace that did code reviews, if the code review was too large (and 1k lines is far too fucking large), it would just get rejected outright. The original dev would have to break their work up, it could also mean that th

Had a meeting one afternoon, after having been at the pub for lunch. This turned into doing shots... Did the meeting and went back to put. Honestly the next day I barely even remembered it. The next day I was told I was great in the meeting

I agree with you about Go. I hate it, but we started it using it at work because it's "easy". It's also easy to walk across a busy road without checking but it's still a fucking stupid thing to do.

That's not what toxic means. The article isn't in the slightest bit toxic. Just because you disagree with it doesn't make it toxic.

I don't know how people can say go "gets out of the way". Go makes me write dozens of lines of code to do something simple that in an any modern language takes a few. It doesn't get out of the way, it gets in the way con

I've tried some of those, and nothing comes to close to Clojure / LISP repl. Just hitting a shortcut and getting the code executed using everything loaded into the REPL and getting inline results is great. It helps that Clojure on

I've seen this in production code: public static bool ConvertToBoolean(this int number) { var TrueOrFalse = false; if(number != 0) TrueOrFalse = true; return TrueOrFalse; }

I'm in the UK. 40 years old. A million pound would last me the rest of my life. Assuming I earn ~£50k a year, lets say £35k a year after tax and deductions, for the next 20 years, that comes out at about £700,000 after tax income. I li

At least in the UK, they might not accept it. I believe there is a limit to what you can spend in cash at places like car dealere, art houses, jewellers etc. I believe it's about £9000.

Repl integrated into your IDE. When you can write code, send it to a repl from your IDE and see the results inline with the code is a game changer.
