I take the word "atheist" at literal face value. I call myself an atheist because I am "a" == "not" a "theist" == "religious adherent". Agnostics are also in that category. The squabbling about non-theistic definitions is stupidly pointless

My social group hates the guy. I can't bring up Mojang without them ranting about how he has an undeserved ego and takes all the credit for Minecraft when really Jeb did all the work. I will say that I think it's incredibly self-absorbed th

You absolutely can. Martian soil is surprisingly very rich, even by Earth's standards.

This is pretty much a given. Livestock takes exponentially more energy to raise than it takes to harvest a comparable amount of plant produce. Goats eat a lot, and they chew on everything. Mushrooms are a good choice as a staple food for a

It doesn't matter that the right brain/left brain thing is a complete myth. This book really works! Don't focus on the book's title so much, it's really all about looking at the world in a different way, and the "right brain" part is just t

With Linux on Steam coming out, whoever is the first to start building gaming Linux boxes is going to cash in big time. (PS, It's not quite Dell with this under-powered laptop, but they're close! )

Not to mention the extra gravity. We'll need all of the gravity we can get if we want to stave off muscle and bone degeneration. It's possible that Mars' light gravity (40% of Earth's) isn't even enough to keep us healthy without excessive

I like a confirmation email to let me know that my signup to their service really did go swimmingly, but I don't care whether it's by a robot or a human, because I don't read them. The email title "You successfully signed up for Facebook!"

I like them. The only annoyance is that you're forced to wrap your return value in a monad even if the function succeeds. That's type safety for you!

The author ACTUALLY said "There are two basic kinds of people in this world.", which would imply that there are variations to these basic forms. If he had really said what you mis-quoted, you might have some point.

In the TED talk he actually explains that wiring, plumbing and painting can be automated with his planned machine(among other processes). I think you're selling the idea short.

If you keep zooming in eventually the perspective flips. As you keep zooming in more the perspective gets warped and it creates a bizarre fish-eye effect. I had about as much fun playing around with perspective warping as I did the finding

I agree. Also, the code examples were very poor in making any point. Coming from somebody with a functional background but with no Erlang experience, the Erlang was trivially clear to me in its purpose. The Haskell would be much clearer if

Really? Almost everyone I grew up with didn't believe in evolution. It was far more difficult to find somebody that accepted it than to find somebody that denied it. I grew up near Jacksonville, FL. A pretty big city, but I've recently move
