This seems like an extremely dangerous thing for Altman to do. What about Roko's basilisk?

Continents are a flawed and made-up concept. They make no sense. They add absolutely no value to any discourse. I simply refrain from using the concept.

You can apply your argument to almost _any_ language. Haskell's semantics not matching the underlying machine has little to do with any of the issues in the article. To the contrary, the simplicity of Haskell allows you to understand t

PureScript also has the huge advantage that it's trivial to build "something". When teaching Haskell, I'm never sure what to build as an example. CLI tools aren't attractive, making a webserver is complex, and so is

If you could get normal people to use it, it would grow. I am not entirely sure what is necessary, but Twitter has/had a lot of small problems (notably scams, which are unfortunately coming back again). Twitter is a _great_ idea IMHO.

How is this a propaganda piece? It seems quite neutral, including both perspectives of the debate, and The Guardian itself is biased to the left! The article doesn't seem to include anything beyond factual reporting.

The difference is Mastodon is a horrible product. The UX is horrendous, yet a noticeable amount of people still left! That's how bad Twitter is! If Substack has anywhere near a decent product, Twitter will hemorrhage. (FWIW, Mastodons

I think the launch was a bit premature. They were in a prime position to really kill Twitter, had the product been ready. They announced it too soon.

Even Matt Taibbi has stopped defending Elon: https://open.substack.com/pub/taibbi/p/the-craziest-friday-e... Incidentally, I started using Substack because of this. Talk about Streisand Effect.
