Does Zig does have the man power to keep these up to date? I think we either need to make operating systems not in C, or just accept that at some level we rely on C.

right, Russia/Ukraine is another thing which isn't as neatly left/right as people think. I used to read the English version of Russia today, and it was almost comical to seem them oscillate articles that fit the "Based M

Are these really left and right issues? IE as the right is becoming more anti-Israel, you find a lot more pro Islamic Republic stuff there these days. The boomer and zoomer right are very different beasts. I don't follow the left as cl

Ah you have misunderstood me. I think the person elected should hold a lot of powers. Because otherwise, what is the point of voting if they're just going to leak it all to the civil service? By "kill switch", I just mean you

We both have very different ideas of what "Soviet democracy" is :) Theirs was a party democracy. Or are you referring to the actual soviets (workers councils) pre Bolshevik coup?

This was an incredibly stupid comment, for the following reasons: - I never mentioned the US - I am not from the US - I wasn't talking about the US You had some axe to grind and you ground it false pretexts. Do better.

This is very well said - it is much nicer and more professional than the sentiments I could express on the matter. The age of niche tech microcelebrities is on us. It existed a bit in the past (ESR, Uncle Bob, etc), but is much more of a th

Not really. I use LLMs for things I am not good at. But I also know I am not good at them. No one is good at everything. 100% fine.

Thanks for clarifying for people. And yeah, as I laid out in the article (that of course, very few people actually read, even though it was short...), I really don't mind how people make code. It's those that try so hard to convin

I suspect for truly talented people, they just like talking to LLMs. And they're also not 100% focused on programming anymore, so the async nature of it matters more than it does to people who write code full time for a living.

Don't be a coward, and talk about demand for housing, which in Australia is driven by sustained mass migration. The inevitable outcome of this is increasing homelessness, and likely slums when homeless just start building themselves ma

Why are flags part of unicode? I thought the point of unicode was to add something for every glyph ever written in every text so they can be stored digitally as plain text. Flags are... not text. And who decides what sorts of flags and vali

Its taken as a fait accompli that LLMs are more productive. But outside some initial scaffolding or code review... I just do not see it. I am not threatened by LLMs. I would like it if I could code purely in requirements. But every time I g
