I had that in a car from 2008 or so. Camera feed switched on when you were reversing, but no touch screen.

Seriously. I have zero use for a touch screen in a car. Maps? When I drive I look at... the road. If I need directions, google maps can tell me to turn left etc by voice commands.

I'm actually not too familiar with git deltas, but that does sound very similar to an Observed/Removed Set, another CRDT.

This is also the way to do it if you want a number that multiple nodes can edit independently. When you sync back up, do a big tally at the end, and that's your final number. (This constitutes a CRDT, and is known as the Positive/

Good rules, I've been guilty of breaking both but I find things are a lot more pleasant if I don't. People violating these rules on social media are big neon warning lights. Mute, and move on with your life. There are so many inte

Oh man I've just had a (friendly!) debate on this with some distsys folks on twitter. General consensus (no pun intended!) is the term availability is not really well defined, and the CAP thoerem is not a useful way to think about thin

I do sometimes wonder if I'd be better off being a bit more afraid to be wrong. I always want to know more stuff and I will always fess up to my ignorance in pursuit of that. I do suspect it makes me sound like I know less than I actua

Yeah someone else linked it. It was fairly meaningless: According to today’s workhorse definition, populism is defined as a political style centered on the supposed struggle of “people vs. the establishment” (Mudde 2004). Populists place t

The resurgence of the term "populism" has always been curious to me. As far as I can tell it means "people not voting how they are supposed to". Much like how we have ousting/coup, freedom-fighter/terrorist, go

I found this article pretty insightful. The big successful companies all focus on the marginal user, and everyone wants to ape FAANG. Wonder if that's the disconnect I see in some smaller SAAS based companies, aping companies who desig

There's a touristy little town about half an hours drive from me (NZ not America) that has a few cafes and what not. We used to go there multiple times a year, but recently they cut their number of public toilets down to about a third.
