A front end web framework with global state management should be a last resort for a website. Coming out of the gate with it is just ridiculous IMO. Most peoples websites are just not that complex. There's like an escalation ladder in

Fertility rate of India is below replacement. Western countries are trying to prevent super aged societies via mass migration. Of course 1) Most of the source countries are themselves low fertility and 2) the more mass migration you have th

I think the deep dependency graphs of modern software engineering are in large part due to peoples lack of fundamentals. It'd be a brilliant plan, if it wasn't for the fact the abstractions are so gosh darn leaky.

It's a bit like how a static type system provides useful guarantees, but you can still do: ``` fn add(x: num, y: num) = x * y ```

So the entire point of the (short) article I wrote was to get people to think outside of the the little box people put CRDTs in: javascript libraries and collaborative editing. Yet here we are, circling back to collaborative editing... At t

Let me answer your question with a question - how do you memory map in rust with the standard library? In zig it's std.posix.mmap.

Web servers, games, and applications, that sort of thing. Some people definitely do systems programming in, but it's a minority. The std library is not set up for it at all, you need something like rustix, but even that results in very

Zig is a systems programming language. I think that's probably who it's targeting. People do systems programming in rust, but that's not really what most of the community is doing. And it's DEFINITELY not what the standa

I think rusts glacial compile times prevent it from being a useful platform for web apps. Yes it's a nice language, and very performant, but it's horrible devex to have to wait seconds for your server to recompile after a change.
