The "Clean Code" book is famous for making bad suggestions and producing unreadable code with too many functions just for the sake of following its rules.

As with all guidelines, some people will turn it into a hard rule, and build a linter to enforce it. Then they will split long functions into shorter ones, but with a lot of arguments. And then their other linter that limits argument count

The parser can run before the user is asked for permission to make changes. The parsed metadata can then discourage the user from installing the package (e.g. because of extremely questionable dependencies ). Dependencies are probably in

Windows has had a taskbar for 30 years. And in the last 15 years, the default taskbar has pinned apps, large icons and no captions.

GitHub is old, but GitHub Actions are not. Indeed, GitHub Actions launched two months after the Microsoft acquisition was announced [0], and it is a half-assed clone of Azure Pipelines. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/

What’s wrong with bytecode? Using something abstract helps with porting between OSes and architectures. .NET supports compiling to native executables, but only a limited subset of projects is supported, because reflection is not available i

For most projects, upgrading between .NET version is quick and painless, usually just updating the TargetFramework and NuGet packages in your .csproj file.

C# 1.0 was pretty much Microsoft Java, but since then, C# has evolved into its own, more powerful thing, while Java has stayed much more conservative over the years.

I agree with almost all of this, especially MediatR being nonsense, but I would recommend against using a LLM to generate a mock. That’s just more code that you need to maintain and update on every interface change. NSubstitute is a fine li

A blog named "AI Focus" is of course going to push LLMs and vibe coding. But here in the real world, people can still code without LLMs, or use them with a human in control, where the LLM can look at existing code written in a fra

Google decided to drop XSLT, because the volunteer-maintained libxslt had no maintainers for some time. So, instead of helping the project, they just decided to remove a feature.

The ID presented at time of purchase does not have to be the ID of the actual user of the card. Your local drunkard will be happy to get $10 to buy a SIM card for you. Or you could visit eBay (or local equivalent) and get a valid SIM card w

There are leftovers from older versions of macOS and severely neglected apps in Tahoe too. Sure, they might have been given a new icon, or adopted the new system styling, but they have not been updated for ages.
