My favourite page is "Specifying source files" [0], which seems like an important thing for an installer, but all this page contains is: > To be written. To volunteer, leave a comment at the related issue on GitHub. If you star

Writing 30 bullet points on how to communicate sounds like you suck at communicating. Making every employee publicly confess how much they got done today sounds like a very toxic and nannying work environment.

Were the creators of Redis responsible for making it a standard, or was it some early cloud "influencers" who stumbled upon it and promoted it in their resources?

Twenty years maintaining, but the quality of the documentation doesn’t show that. Making an installer in WiX 4 with only one or two fancy things required 3-4 days’ worth of trial-and-error, and searching the WiX sources to figure things out

Most users on open-source operating systems can't code as well. And even if they could, this still requires knowledge or guesswork to find the trick for the deletion. Some people suggest truncation, and that's possible with a shel

Google Podcasts wasn’t installed on my Samsung phone out-of-the-box, and the app is 5 years old. I imagine most people found a podcast app they like, or they perhaps discovered podcasts on Spotify and stayed there.

It is likely that the `xpdf` project is developed under source control, but they don’t make the repository public. SQLite makes their repository public, but they do not accept contributions.

It might work if AI stops producing random output and bullshit (which proponents call hallucinations to make it sound nice), and produces correct responses deterministically. Which may take forever.

GitHub/GitLab can generate tarballs from specific git commits, and those are cacheable and don’t change (when GitHub deployed some changes to the format, many places noticed and GitHub had to undo the changes).

The first one I got was 7 * 7 + (-3). That’s trivial, elementary-school-level math, and did they really need LaTeX to render that? Then I refreshed the page, and was hit with calculus involving trig functions.

This article lists the other contenders for the title of new Redis, and I think Redict is going to be the least successful thanks to its founder, niche hosting site, and the hostile AGPL licence.
