A Tesla model S seems to be able to store 100kWh. France seems to have ~30M cars. So, 100e3 30e6 3600~=1e16 J storage assuming all those cars switch to being Tesla S, and are somehow kept unused. France consumed 529e6/1.17 MHw accordi

It seems to me that NREs do not allow closing that many fossil fuel plants since you need backup power (unless storage, but I have yet to see a big country use storage rather than gas). So, my impression is that they would definitely have s

In my understanding, you have to prefix all your keywords with "+" for all of them to be necessary for a page to be included in your results. This makes the behavior slightly closer to Google.

Nuclear can do load following in France. According to this article (French), reactors can adjust power output by 80% in 30 minutes: https://www.lesechos.fr/2016/02/lelectricien-fait-de-plus-en... (I am curious abo

If you want to update all your F-Droid apps at once on a non-rooted Android, you need to go through all of them one by one. Basically: click upgrade, click "Install", wait for Android to do its stuff, do the same for the next app.

My understanding is the following: Home Edition needs to be disconnected from the Internet before booting to allow the creation of a local account during setup. Otherwise the option does not show up. I don't know about Pro Edition, but

While it works I am not sure what the point of (wind/solar) renewables is when the grid is already low-carbon. My understanding is that it increases the cost of nuclear plants by reducing their load factor (since they have to reduce th

I see nothing about where power comes from when there is neither wind nor sun. Are they using storage or just using the national grid? If it is the latter, can we truly say they run on 100% renewable?

One point I am wondering about is if the symptoms could be caused by an actual disease (unrelated to EM) that would need treatment, but is not because the affected person is convinced that the cause is EM exposure. However, I guess people u

However, the direction in France seems to be to replace part of nuclear with renewable. But building wind and solar power (hydro is already maximized to my knowledge) means the nuclear plants have to reduce their power output when there is

Does (2.) include storage cost? Otherwise wind and solar cannot replace base power, so it does not make sense to compare the electricity production cost alone.

Windows Server 2019 is quite nice as a no-bullshit OS and can be bought for $350 on Amazon, but it has its own set of issues (compatibility, post-setup configuration to make it into a desktop OS, drivers).

Nested ternary operators are hardly ever a good idea. Would using ternary operators as a terser switch statement be fine? int a = b == 1 ? 2 : b == 2 ? 3 : b == 3 ? 5 : -1;
