I've been exclusively using LibreOffice for ~10 years, and OpenOffice before that, and aside from just doing some things differently (not worse) compared to MS Office, it's been smooth sailing. And for most people Google Docs or

I guess my Phenom II-based system is SOL. No TPM, not even a connector on the motherboard, and of course it's pre-UEFI. Oh well, Windows 10 will be the last MS OS to be installed on it, 100% Linux it is.

"Local" is "geographically close to me". Do you use a different definition? Having common goods like clothes shipped halfway around the globe is pointless and wasteful.

While buying purely local/domestic will reduce your selection somewhat, the majority of what you cut yourself off from buying are low-quality products anyway. I don't think it's possible to buy purely local/domestic for

I had an absolute blast on my Yamaha XT660X, which was sort of a motard version of a dual-sport. Small and light for an adventure bike, but a bit too large and heavy to be a true supermoto. 660cc single-cylinder that you could just beat on

On a fresh reboot and login to a KDE desktop, the total memory use (minus disk cache) on my system is just a hair over 1GB. This is on a ~10 year old Phenom II with 16GB RAM, and KDE is smooth as butter. It runs great on my Thinkpad X220i,

Debian, Gentoo, Arch, openSUSE, I've been on KDE since Gnome 2 came out and it messed up a lot of the things I liked in Gnome 1. KDE 4 was a low point, at least the first releases were buggy and didn't feel nearly as good as 3, bu
