There are in-place algorithms that use shifting rather than swapping (the so called in-place merge sort, for instance). If you look at the result and at the original, generally you will not find many pairs in which the elements exchanged th

Well, first, whether swap() is used or not depends on the algorithm; second, the result of the sorting, as opposed to reversal, does not necessary look like the elements were swapped.

Not if you look at the result.

‘default’ is there by default anyway. This new feature allows to explicitly state that there isn’t one.

Because the reversal is done by swapping the first byte with the last, etc.

Looks (too) close to Spanish. (Also, I’ve been under impression for a while now that Spanish is the closest thing to a “modernized” version of Latin that we already have.)

What I like about Lisp is that, for example, a configuration file can be written directly in Lisp (as opposed to, say, XML or JSON), in which case it can simply execute itself (i.e. without the need to have a separate interpreter to parse t

Free speech rallies have been customarily labeled by the national media (and not only) as white supremacist, for example. Regardless of whether this has merit or not, whenever you say that you “support free speech” (without a “but”) you’ll

Well, doesn’t the “index” need to be stored in the tree itself for this to work? If so, the tree just represents an ordered map. (Changing indexes after deletion or insertion would be a problem, though.)

They are incorrect. While diagrams are indeed (a part of) the language of Category Theory, the theory is certainly not about the language.

Read The Lazy Universe by Coopersmith. (Also, the Fermat’s Principle of least time is perhaps more intuitive and has a firm grounding in the wave description of how light propagates.)

Well indeed, if by ‘developer’ you mean (software) engineer. Engineering is vastly different from the mere coding.
