I’m still surprised by Anubis’ decision not to make the PoW have a useful output, for example a crypto, protein-folding like, or something else. And I speak as being generally very critical of cryptos, but here rewarding the website owner w

The real culprit is having the awkward alt+F4 used for closing an application instead of cmd+W or cmd+Q on macOS for example.

I don't think it'd necessarily be a good decision, sometimes CVE are actively exploited and need quick patching. A better safety net would be to require active 2FA proof for every package update.

Why anyone would still use mypy besides legacy infrastructure is beyond me. It is dog slow as well as being the laziest of all, not catching many mistakes. Unfortunately for Django apps switching to any alternative leads to the dreaded “wal

I was really eager to use those new frameworks until a recent HN comment raising how power-hungry and wasetul these were for most of their usage (terminal, forms, tui), and now I think it will probably be seen as ‘bloat’ in the future.

> making it very easy to go from O(n) to O(2n) Strictly speaking I assume everyone knows O(n) = O(2n) =O(kn) for k in R. But I see your point. I assume any decent compiler would merge the loops though

An Issue tracker is to track issues regarding the behaviour of the program, not the behaviour of the maintainer.

Almost all the commits are regarding the testsuite or CI, both of which are IMO great use of AI.

While the effect system seems way more general, it’s a bit sad the example only talk about logging or IO, both of which can be simply done with dependency injection

I’ve used effects in scala3 with cats-effects and haven’t been impressed. All in all, the way it was used was just to reimplement a very similar interface to exceptions.

There’s increasing consensus among doctors that at that age any non-physically supervised usage is detrimental to their health. Would you say the same of eg: parents giving alcohol or smoking to their teenagers?

To all here saying this is was only a pilot error. I'll ask you, do you also think it is only a programmer error when a critical memory-safety bug is introduced in C? And that they should be the only one responsible and face jail-time
