Oilshell (osh, not oil) is supposed to be backwards compatible. Not really using it, mostly because I can't remember to and I don't want to set it as default yet.

Ideally you want both an embedded database, a library for manipulating requests understood by the database, and a few libraries for exposing the same interface over different networks.

EU is a collaboration between countries where anyone can veto anything, yet they still manage to pass laws. Open source is much easier in comparison: no need for full consensus and no way to retract code that has already been published.

Yo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yo_(app) To be pedantic, this is not a single bit of data. This is zero bits attached to an event. The event is not discrete however, so I'm not sure what form of information theo

Power games happen in every large scale collaboration that does anything of value. This is not a reason to refuse doing it altogether.

Having to install binary manually is extra friction: you can't rely on a tool to manage it for you, you have to have a place for storing them, you have to remember where it is if you want to delete it.

I think CUE looks great, but right now it's losing because it can only be installed as a package for Go, MacOS and Arch.

There seems to be an unoccupied design space for a mix between JSX and shell languages. Both effectively compose concurrent processes.

Before context, we would need to know the problem we're trying to solve. All three are equally good if there are no requirements.

The differences between the rules are not important, that's exactly why there needs to be a standard. TTRPG rules are not tabletop game rules: they don't say what happens, GM does. TTRPG rules are a language that abstracts away tr

The customer wins by being able to compare prices. The developer can no longer make lowball offers and expect the locked in customer to write blank checks when poorly written code blows up.

There is no alternative. Mobile devices and browsers are equivalent to a locked down mode where the user is only allowed to approve a restricted set of capabilities.
