You can write and calculate much faster with a typewriter and a calculator than you would do the same by hand, and you can use both even if you don't know handwriting or the algorithm for calculating logarithms by hand.

That's not too different for crediting e.g. a typewriter as the tool used to author the text. That is, not ridiculous, but not new.

You could ship code without understanding it, it just needs to be treated as throwaway, unreliable and potentially malicious. This is OK for some tasks, e.g. best-effort scraping of a frequently updated website that's actively hostile

Infinite growth isn't a myth in general, the world economy does grow over time and for obvious reasons. But of course this doesn't necessarily translate to individual companies growing at the same rate all the time.

Right. So these are all examples of market forces being irrelevant. This isn't the market showing that culture doesn't matter: when the winner is predetermined, culture or anything else couldn't _possibly_ matter, as long as

These off topic complaints about capitalism are pointless and exhausting and make HN a worse place.

Even microcontrollers would merely require custom compilations that turn off features. There are no technical reasons for having more than one codebase, only economical and coordination-related.

Does it let you manually keep track of the parts you've actually seen? Instead of using the granularity provided by the PR author?

In terms relevant for this thread, jujutsu is a git CLI with much better UX and support for change IDs. Most history editing operations become trivial. Code review and PR management should be a much thinner layer if implemented on top of ju

Separately, do I understand the idea correctly: - when learning on the real examples, just propagate forward - when learning on the fake examples, first generate them by propagating white noise backward

I'm curious if there is an explanation for it not being more common to sleep like dolphins do, small parts of the brain at a time.

Cleaning happening during sleep doesn't mean it's the main purpose. It could be merely a convenient time for doing the majority of it.

Hard to inagine the final outcome being anything other than the smartest model + cheap subagents. The only problem with that is user requests being pasted directly into the model's context, but that's got to be temporary.

Studies in mice aren't used to confirm something relevant for humans, they're exploratory. "Learn via patterns" is hopelessly vague. Archival algorithms learn via patterns too.

The point about LLMs makes even less sense than drawing conclusions from "in mice" studies

It feels like OTel tried standardizing before the correct design was anywhere close to being settled. It's only time to standardize once there's consensus on all the important points, and what's left is minor details that don

If the pseudocode is precise, what you want is a compiler. Otherwise the LLM is still making decisions for you.

The judge did make the decision to outsource to an LLM. This isn't new and isn't too different from tossing a coin.
