It is capable of addressing and describing itself from the outside, of talking to itself while knowing that that is what it is doing, and of intentionally doing things that involve other entities being aware of it.

In what sense would it not be aware of its own existence if it was telling users what to say to itself to retrieve a file?

Self-awareness is not a very interesting property: a server that knows the domain name it is hosted on is arguably as self-aware as anything, qualitatively speaking

There will be space for improvement until every cloud has a managed offering with exactly the same interface. Like docker, postgres, S3.

With NATS in the stack, what's the advantage over using NATS directly?

For one-off scripts: every time. So Deno is better at small scripts written in Typescript than Node. Then, the question becomes, if you're going to have Deno installed and if it works well enough to replace Node, why keep Node?

Sure it is different: - not a business - not on a street where people bump into it - doesn't sell physical goods, doesn't know beforehand the number of customers, cannot (by design) limit impact

Oh, the idea of tracking the state of the refactoring process with small scripts is very cool. Obvious in retrospective too. These scripts would be useful even if they're only like 90% correct.

Post-merge reviews obviously help with the same goal of having very little work stuck in WIP. But it's a 80/20 kind of goal, not all or nothing. Post-merge reviews are probably only worth it when you can trust the developers to no
