Tidal has a similar test[1] (though only between 320 and lossless - no 128 track). Now, it's trying to sell you their high-quality streaming option, so I would take the results with a bit of a grain of salt as there are a number of way

Good article, but irrelevant. This is about lossless vs 320kbps mp3, not 24/192k vs 16/44.1k

If you have a bit of signal processing background, fractional derivatives actually make perfect sense in the frequency domain. A derivative is equivalent to a highpass filtering with a slope of +20 dB/decade (or about +6 dB/octave

Given that Robin Thicke got sued just for writing a song that kind of has a little bit of the same feel as a Marvin Gaye song, I doubt this works.

I tend to agree - except there are way more enemies. It's not exactly a subtle change. Also keep in mind this was 1994. If someone ran into this, it's not like they could go complain on Twitter or Reddit where millions of people

The article is talking about #talkpay, a hashtag about gender pay equality. And the article is tagged "Women in tech". So yes, it is applicable.

Can someone explain why HTTPS is necessary for a webpage where I don't log in or submit any information? For example, take the xkcd homepage. Not only do I not log into it, there's nowhere I _could_ log in. The only input is a sea

It doesn't. Just like the example it replaces. I'm not saying this is the best way to write this code - there are several reasons RAII is better. But in this case, "look how messy non-RAII code is!" isn't the reason

It's certainly not bug free. But that's not the point. All I did was rewrite that example with half as much code. The point of that example seems to be "look how much less code RAII takes!" and I'm just trying to sh

Because it's an example of allocating things on the heap. You could also say the same about the "good" RAII version shown - but then there wouldn't be much point to the article, would there?

Yes, of course RAII is much shorter than a contrived example designed to be as long as possible. Here's a much shorter version: int unsafe2() { A* a = new A; int retval = 0; if (a->f())
