Look at all the media attention to her hair I am not gonna lie, Trump's hair got much more coverage. She is not treated fundamentally different than a male candidate, except in a positive bias as in "I want to see a woman lead

The goal is a better future, after all, not maximizing fairness in the short-term. That's why you shouldn't judge by gender, but by performance of the candidate. That just proves my point. If your goal is a better future and you

And of course, I think that a woman should have a chance at leading our country, even if she's not the one that I'd chose typically. This I find the worst argument for her presidency imaginable. "I am so virtuous and anti-s

The problem is more like 96% CO2 in the air. Yes, plants need CO2. But I read that if the CO2 concentration is too high, plants stop being able to perform photosynthesis well.

Does that transfer to code? Should I write bad code for a month and seek to read the worst code samples imaginable? I'm pretty sure whoever will be confronted with my code will not be happy =)

So, we the people are essentially children and the state is the parent? Nice metaphor, you just proved my point that the state should not interfere.

Things like principal component analysis, eigenvalues and filtering are timeless and fundamental tools that won't go away in the near future. Even if you don't go into computer vision - these have a wide range of applications, for

I don't understand why the state has to become involved. Let the free market work and people decide for themselves. I stopped using WhatsApp the moment I read that facebook bought it.

It boggles my mind how certain countries are becoming safer day by day, yet people feel compelled to vote for pervasive surveillance and control. I think it is a mental disorder, a complete disconnect from reality, bordering on schizophreni

You have to stop discrimination from first principles downwards: Identify the discriminating policy or behaviour and stop it. You cannot assess discrimination from the other side, by looking at percentages and then conclude a systemic bias.

This is very impressive, I love it when code has minimal (or no) dependencies, you really see what's going on under the hood. Could have used some more comments in the code itself though (there are basically none but the code is clean)

There is barely a company that visits the white house more than Google. I wouldn't be surprised if the American state has direct access right into Google's data center - it wouldn't be the first company whose server building

I think you underestimate how much energy it takes to cool down and freeze water and how inefficient it is to simply place that near the server.

They didn’t plan for ventilation for all the hardware, so they cooled the server room with a garbage can full of ice! In the video, he said they had no money for it, but that is quite possibly the most expensive way to cool a server.

If you don't punish the leakers, you'll look bad when more whistle-blowers reveal more of the evil stuff you've been up to. If you do punish the leakers, you confirm your guilt. The only way out seems to be to not do evil, s
