This comment is filled with replies from obviously privileged people. I’m very glad there’s people who can look at the world and still think it’s more good than bad, and I sure hope those are the majority, but that’s simply not the case for

Depends. I remember reading a while ago that the average time for a person to fall asleep is 15 minutes. I personally believe I fall asleep instantly, but maybe that’s just me not being conscious enough during those 15 minutes to remember t

What makes you think they haven’t? I don’t buy it for one bit that people simply have kids on impulse, and you can question an impulse and come out the other end still wanting to go through with it.

Wow, seeing that warrior sprite on the home page filled me with memories. RPGMaker was my first introduction to game dev when I was around 10 years old (even if I never wrote any actual code). My home computer was Linux so I had to go to a

Surely that's just your view on it? I've been using Linux since I was a kid and it's definitely not how I or the people I know use sudo. Lol

I like how you can say this about literally any complaint or feature request. It's the perfect deflection!

It does once you get past using sudo as second attempt at running a command that failed for a reason you don't understand.

Is this an actual saying? It made me think of Twin Peaks (season 3) where one character runs a conspiracy, conservative radio show and sells golden shovels that his listeners proudly display.

Luck is always a factor in everything, but what really matters is being prepared to take advantage of it when luck strikes.

Nix shell isn't supposed to provide file system isolation. It is a package manager after all, so what it does best is give a consistent dev environment with isolated dependencies. At that point if the program access mutable state and y

That does sound like a scary prompt, but it might also work as a filter of sorts. I certainly don't care enough about comments that scaring someone away will be a concern, especially as they can always just e-mail me, so I get to pay e

As an aside, I’m very impressed by the comments widget that uses Github issues. I think I might adopt it for my blog. I never cared much for comment sections, but my blog is a Github repository anyways, so I might as well use it. Thanks!

Website doesn't really work on mobile, unfortunately. The text doesn't match the screen size and is padded to the right by a bunch of empty space.

Why can't she use the same web based application on her laptop? DAWs are, by nature, extremely complicated, Linux or not. If she has something that already works, I don't see why you'd want to change. I'd like to mention

I just looked it up and it’s really cool! Unfortunately it’s US-only. Are there any guides on how to DIY one of those?

Well, this is a disaster then. I was excited to get back to VRChat once I got a Linux compatible headset, but I guess that's not possible anymore. What a terrible change.

I can see this being used as an opportunity to ask the candidate how they'd do it differently many years later. I'm not sure if it's a useful thing to ask, but it sounds like it would spark interesting conversations.

I just left an environment like that after almost 2 years. It got to me so bad that I can't even remember what it's like to work somewhere more organized, which is why I'm excited to start my new job soon.

In my experience when it comes to software development you get what you pay for. It's why I ask for US salaries even though I live in a country with an incredibly low cost of living.

Fair enough. Since you mentioned it's a Gaming PC specifically, I assume this is a machine that's only used for that. In that case I personally wouldn't mind leaving it unprotected, but I can understand why someone else would

If you enable auto login on Windows as well as tell Steam to open on login, it should cut out those steps from your workflow. Edit: here's a link that tells you how to do that. It's a bit involved since you have to mess with Regis

Not to take away from your great post, but that jab at the end felt unnecessary and reductive. There are a million reasons why Windows is more popular than Linux, and while user experience is one of them in my opinion, I'd say it'
