Including the kid in the chores from as early as he possibly could has been a huge win for us. At 6 he can now handle stuff like simple food preparation, emptying the dishwasher and folding his own clothes pretty much unsupervised. That sav

Isn't that basically what Macron tried to do which lead to all the Yellow Vest protests and riots? I agree in principle but there needs to be some sort of tuning so people living in the poor countryside with no public transportation ge

Hard to tell from the marketing, but I'm 90% sure it's some type of fuel cell run in reverse and with a fancy name. Unless they have some new catalyst there is no new tech here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F

Rail is quite a lot less flexible than air travel. If you have a plane you can pretty much go anywhere that has a strip of asfalt of the right length. With rail you need to lay out the track between the two points with all the difficulties

Coming from a small country, it is amazing to me that an urban area of at least 1 million people is referred to as a village. I consider myself to live in a town and that has only 12000 residents.

I would rather work as an engineer building stuff than sit on a beach all day. Also, there's good stress and bad stress. Treating someone with an acute cardiac arrest is probably quite stressful, but also very meaningful. Dealing with

In democracies the populations get the politicians they deserve. It's not like it's a surprise to anyone that Boris Johnson's sole political project is Boris Johnson, but people still voted for him.

Depends on what you like. I remember Consider Phlebas as a series of vignettes, while Player of Games is a coherent story. I like the coherent stories and also think Excession is quite good.

The people above you suck. That's a terrible attitude. Signalling that saving money or just generally improving systems doesn't matter will not build a culture of technical excellence and ambition. Also, it's not peanuts. How

Why does it always have to be all or nothing? Is your codebase 100% covered by unit tests? You don't have to make sure all the angles of your house are perfect right angles, but there's probably a couple that really have to be.

The purpose of the stimulus check was for Donald Trump to put his name on a check to a bunch of voters. The extent to which it happened to help out people in need or "the economy" was secondary.

I imagine a static, non-flexible screen that you're not supposed to put any pressure on is a very different problem from a flexible, constantly moving glove which is also used to push buttons, grab stuff, etc.

Ukraine was already 'poisoned' for NATO, due to the Crimea annexation and the Donetsk and Lugansk separatists. No need for an invasion to poison anything further. My view is that this is about maintaining a fading colonial empire.
