I think everyone's choices are based around money (wealthy or not). I think the crux of what you're getting at is that the opportunity cost of choices when you're not wealthy is inherently stressful. If the choice is between

I used to repair phones on the side back around the iPhone 4S. It was a great time, where anyone with patience and the ability to follow instructions could replace a screen (for <$10 depending on the device), camera, battery, etc. Most r

I'll answer your question with a story. My grandfather used to use Internet Explorer. I tried to get him on Chrome, but he refused to even open it since it was "too difficult". One day I removed IE from the desktop and change

I wonder how much work it would be to turn it into a proper CAD tool. I would donate a significant chunk of my paycheck to Blender if it supported parametric CAD. Obviously that would be pocket change to the Blender Foundation, but if enoug

I once had a manager that, when asked why we don’t hire a QA team, said, “We don’t need one because we have really good engineers”. :/

I find it really nice that we have county based TLDs. If I google search for places to buy XYZ and I see xyz.ca, I know in buying from a Canadian website. Also, you can have country specific information, eg immigration.co.uk, which is prett

It seems like Apple's retaliation was prompted by Epic's lawsuit -- not by the (trivial) breach of ToS. The precedence Apple wants to set is: break ToS, get kicked off the store. Break ToS and then try to take Apple to court, get

That’s been exactly my experience with amateur radio. I’ve given my friends the spiel about how cool it is that I can use the EM spectrum to send my voice through the air to the other side of town. And how other people have put up repeaters

Life skills are not completely disjoint from current curriculum subjects. You don't need to dedicate an hour every day to a class called "Life skills" (and if you did I suspect many children would pay less attention). Why not

Even better, why not use a mechanical scale? Digital is sure easier to read (plus you get neat features like tare and unit conversion), but a plain old mechanical force measure doesn't require batteries at all .

In order to test developer beta releases, you need a paid Apple developer account. Obviously it wouldn't be great if you had to pay $99 for every device (or employee at your business) just to test on the latest beta release, so Apple a

Not all shortcuts but a good few. Ctrl-A/E to go to the beginning/end of a line, for example. You can even rebind these shortcuts and they’ll work in any text field. There’s even a hack to enable Vi-like shortcuts.
