? Not sure what this is supposed to mean. I’ve lived here for over a decade and have seen very few people that don’t have a home of some kind. Family connections obviously play a large role.

It’s not background, it’s donations. While I hate the taste, it makes sense to combine smart with powerful if you want to produce industry. The rich don’t need to be particularly competitive academically - they are hyper-advantaged socially

I have an interesting observation about homelessness. I live in a country where the average household makes about US$6000 a year. The cost of living here is about 1/2 of the USA, with rents about 1/4. The unemployment rate is abo

It’s a very interesting idea to separate syntax from language mechanics. In a way, that’s what all programming languages do, with bytecode or machine instructions under the hood, but the idea of segregating syntax from function seems disti

It’s just price gouging. There is an item I sometimes buy that is about $1.60 at supermarkets, but is consistently $.85 at nearly all rural Colmados. Same brand, same product , shelf stable , mass produced, large volume mover, imported prod

How would one separate syntax from the language? Some kind of syntax.conf where syntax would be defined? I guess that would mean a syntax compiler stage to an intermediate language- kind of like the way many “languages” compile down to js?

The window has shifted as to what constitutes “us made” though. For most things “US assembled” is the norm, and when you get out into things like office supplies, vehicles, and construction materials it’s often far from true domestic manufa

Yes. Realistically speaking the value that a diemaker brings should easily be worth 2x or more their current scale. The SmarterEveryDay piece was disheartening for sure, echoes what I have been singing from the rooftops ever since the gover

That may be the case in many industries, but I don’t think it applies in this case. The industry isn’t flooded with people looking to move up, it’s starving for interest. The problem is that you can farm out the work overseas for much less

Yeah, the algorithms and program flow would have to be materially distinct to be really safe. Maybe switching language paradigms would get that for you in most cases? Js->haskell->js? Sounds like a nightmare lol.

I haven’t checked on Roblox recently, but afaik it doesn’t really allow complete creative freedom or the ability to have a picture and say “make the world look like this, and make the character textures match the vibe” and have it happen. D

At this point, even if die makers started making 300k a year, there isn’t enough master die makers left in the USA to bootstrap the capacity in less than 5 decades. The only practical solution at this point is to max out apprenticeship and

AI is useful in Chinese walling code, but it’s not as easy as you make it sound. To stay out of legal trouble, you probably should refactor the code into a different language, then back into the target language. In the end, it turns into a

I consistently get accused of AI writing, but I’m not really sure why. I use spellcheck, that’s about it. Although I am a fan of an appropriately used em-dash, I don’t really follow the other patterns. I also find that people say that as a

I don’t know much about the dangers involved, but it isn’t (or wasn’t, AFAIK) a big attraction… so maybe it’s crazy or dangerous? I’m not sure. Or it might be because the water is so cold that hypothermia and death is inevitable in less tha

Good points. Where I am at it’s mostly the wind because I am a well drained higher elevation, so I’m sure that coloured my perception. But you are right, the storm surge and flooding also do a great deal of damage.

A clarification was appropriate because it really did miss the physics, but doubling down on the definition of wave without talking about speed, length, and volume (which is what had confused OP in the first place) was not only suboptimal i
