I would love to love Zed. In practice it’s everything I want. But it’s a text editor first. And what I want, and it’s non negotiable, in a text editor is good text editing. Except font rendering is atrocious and broken on Linux ( what I use

This doesn’t change the VRAM usage, only the compute requirements.

Is Typst’s typesetting quality on par with « bare » LaTeX ? with LaTeX + microtype ? It may be stupid and vain but for me if it doesn’t at least match the former it’s a no-go

I am quite honestly baffled by all these posts. I'm not a hardcore skeptic, at least I don't think so, I have tried most of the vibe coding tools, and I regularly try new ones and continue using many; and I do NOT have the experie

MinionMath only covers the Unicode Math part. It doesn't cover everything but it's definitely extensive ( 3300 symbols ! ): http://www.typoma.com/data/MinionMath_Release_1_026.pdf MinionPro / Minion 3 is

Kind of expensive but there isn't actually a lot of choice for fonts with matching math fonts so for my PhD thesis I used Minion 3 + MinionMath. For mono fonts there are a lot of nice choices but I used PragmataPro for no other reasons

It would "know" the same way it "knows" anything else: The probability of the sequence "I don't know" would be higher than the probability of any other sequence.

Watt isn’t a measure of energy. Without how long it takes for a human and ChatGPT to solve the task then the comparison doesn’t teach anything

Ofc Mistral model is a lot worse but for $14.99 you get access to AFP news. So OpenAI for $60 for the same things would be a huge joke

That's a fantastic spec sheet. Not talking about the specs, I have no idea how to read that, but it's very very well presented.

A few dollars??? What are those sessions doing ? How do you define a "session" How can it be worth it in anyway except for FAANG engineers in the US ?

It's absolutely impossible to answer you because the very premise of your question is made in bad faith. You wouldn't even need to think, by yourself, very long to get a long list of examples; the fact that you somehow can't

iPhone reviews don’t mention AI because : 1. They didn’t exist in iOS 18.0 at release. Can’t review it if it doesn’t exist 2. it still doesn’t exist in the majority of the world in iOS 18.1. If you are not in the US or UK, Apple Intelligen

Please don't call it an "ML tool" if it only works with Deep Learning. Nothing wrong with that, but it's annoying to read intros/docs only to reach the part where it becomes clear it's an NN specific tool.

$q_0$ and $x$ are explicitly defined. This is "misleading" because it's presented as a blog post but really it should be read as a paper or book section. Take your time. Take a pen and paper out. Reread things multiple times.
