This is the fundamental and intrinsic reason for concepts of free speech. The power to control what can and can't be shared between people corrupts just like any other power.

This reminds me of when telomere extension was all the rage in futurology forums... Turns out it's a recipe for cancer. I can't help but wonder if this wont have a similar result.

I don't use ChatGPT written code, however excellent for rubber duck development where I'll describe the problem being as verbose as I like and then asking how to accomplish the task. Usually it either confirms my initial assumptio

I don't think we should cater to Luddites, but (and it's a big but) if we automate enough jobs out of existence it's essentially undeniable that we will need systemic changes to avoid becoming a completely dystopian society.

Agree except for the "willingness to legislate" changing. That's been in place for a LONG time, it dates all the way back to the separation of church and state decision being based on a letter Thomas Jefferson wrote. Hell Roe

It's true laws don't account for the future. It's also true that laws can be created and updated by other means and quite often the judicial branch is used as a fast pass extension of the legislative branch. The problem when

Whatever your opinion about recent supreme court decisions, this has all underscored what has been true for a long time: Legislating via the judicial branch is a bad idea. If it only takes 5 out of 9 people to make laws for 600 million, it

I used to really enjoy writing and reading those ridiculous reviews. "Shipping came so fast I had to duck!!!" "If I were locked in prison this seller could be my bunk mate!"

I thought auto sales was a result of the downward/upward demand wave the pandemic drove? Basically fewer people bought cars, then lots more people bought cars and meanwhile there was a shortage of chips.

Pretty much. Unless you've worked out how to obtain consent from someone that doesn't exist either we create kids without their consent or society ends.

Dunno if this is the case here, but there are use cases for manual timestamps, for example when you want to differentiate between metadata updates / formatting changes and content updates/reviews.
