Fascinating stuff. Who decides what gets shared? Are you posting everything, or do you curate the results of the algorithm?

True [1] But, still I wouldn't consider the entire country to be "uninhabitable" [1] https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/d756ql/population_...

Thank you! Very informative answer. I like this design, it seems much more "manageable" from a mere human's perspective.

With ~400 employees [1] and ~$100m in ad revenue [2], that's only about $250,000 / employee (seems like a lot, but take out unemployment taxes, health care contribution, corporate taxes, etc.). And then there's infrastructure

| So in the end, about 50% of the world population lives in about 50% of the world's habitable land. Your math may be accurate, but your assessment of habitable land-mass seems to be off. I know and work with a number of people in Cana

A quick browse and this looks interesting. Does anyone know if ray is hadoop-like (meaning it brings code to the existing data), or does it serialize the data to be processed amongst nodes? The docs indicates that it uses Apache Arrow to se

Some pedantry... Raw RAM space is not the issue... it's indexing and structure of the data that makes it process-able. If you just need to spin through the data once, there's no need to even put all of it in RAM - just stream it o

Doesn't your 40K job become a 30K salary + 10K UBI? I never thought UBI meant communism. If you want more out of life, get a job that pays over-and-above UBI.

Ok, fair enough, but try and extend the pattern. What if the technical candidates don't have a Facebook account, a twitter account, a github account, or any other active online presence? Do you think such resume's will jump to the

Get used to it... this is the world we (the tech community) helped, even pushed, to create. I ask myself, would a FAANG company hire someone who doesn't actively tweet? Somehow, I doubt it. It is increasingly impossible to live in the

All designs have trade-offs. When trade-offs appear, you either accept them or mitigate them... If it's important to know how many blue widgets are bought at night in Europe, vs. how many blue watcha-ma-call-its are bought in the eveni

You mean you didn't know this would happen by adding something (script, tracker, pixel, etc.) to your site, or you don't have a root cause as to why your own site is sending data to FB?

Interestingly, none of the other "big brother" companies show up on my activity feed, even though I do use them. No Apple. No Amazon. No Google. No Netflix. Not even Microsoft. Anyone else?? Wow, this is beyond creepy.
