I think this is quite interesting. The ability to treat code as data is an incredibly powerful concept. I don't know exactly what Roslyn does, but I see a lot of potential: 1. Measuring code complexity. I've often felt that code complexity

As a Detroit http://goo.gl/hyOts suburbanite, Clark's prediction certainly seems to be very relevant for me right now. I live in a relatively sparsely populated area. I often work remotely. When I do go into the office, I'm headed for ano

At first take this seems like it would be easy to circumvent, (given a dictionary of homonyms) but... google "look over there." == 1.5M hits google "look over their." == 16.2M hits google "look over they're." == 1.0M hits Google doesn't sup

_Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain_ is an excellent book. I still use some of the techniques to "turn-on" my right brain, and turn off the analytic, sombol-based left-brain (comes in handy when you need it). As i recall the boldest sta

I disagree. I believe MS Project is a much larger/more complicated animal - at least when using Project Server. How do you handle exceptions when a task update is accepted by a timesheet manager, but rejected by the project manager, all whi

Similar story here - I taught myself 68000 assembly by hex-dumping the opcodes out of the only compiler I could afford (i.e. free), and then taught myself calculus to find the tangents along a bezier-curve for my flagship product at the tim

Some of the video of the Japanese tsunami made me immediately think of Atlantis. A person seeing such things 4000 years ago may well have described it as "swolled by the sea".

I would guess that technically savvy (I mean really savvy) people are much better compensated outside of the education system. I'd be curious how many readers on this site would even consider a teaching career. Personally, I'd love to teach

Logic paradoxes always did (and still do) blow my mind: 1: The farther out in space you look, the farther back in time you are seeing. If you could look back all the way to the big bang, you would be looking (billions of miles away) at the

Very interesting. Did you notice the dupicate guy? Look on the left of the circular park in the middle of the round about. The guy with the knapsack is duplicated.

It appears MS thought this through. The contrived example is but ONE way a mediocre programmer could really munge this stuff up if the language is not specific about protecting exit points from a finall{} block.

I know what I'll be thankful for this Thanks Giving - very unfortunate to see the extent of the economic blight so graphically. Did we jump from 8.5 in September to 10.2 in October? That seems excessive.
