Evolution does give us a tool to make predictions, and yes, some of those predictions come true. Unfortunately, humans don't always heed those predictions: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2702430&

Yes, I do... the single model 328i, if it is in fact the worst of the BMW models, should be above the average cost of the BMW models. According to the first table, it isn't. They made a mistake.

Yes, I see now. I was confused. Apparently, the 328i has a relatively common oil-leakage problem. http://repairpal.com/bmw/328i Don't have the labor costs for a valve cover gasket, but they could be sizable. Scrol

Yeah, I got ya now. The problem is that repairs can continue. $450 for brakes? Ok. $800 for tires + alignment. $125 for a new battery. $600 to replace a bent rim and it's pair. When data like this indicates that the maintenance cost o

Who's down-voting me for stating facts? The 328i is certainly on the lower-end of the BMW price spectrum... https://www.google.com/#q=bwm+model+prices

It happens. My Wife's car needed a new intake plenum (it was an Mazda, not a BMW) $750. I priced for my Ford Fusion: $150 for a manifold. The point is parts for imports here in the states are generally much higher.

There is no way to get the data cheaply. There's a sizable industry around this - of which YourMachanic is newer part. Repair data is used to set part prices, determine the TCO of a vehicle (similar this report shows). It is also used

I think you mean the least expensive. BMW parts are expensive.

Ever priced an intake manifold (or are they using plenums now?) for a BMW? The parts alone set you back a pretty penny, then there is labor.

Practially speaking, I've learned much more from Aphyr's Jepsen Test framework (and write-ups about test results) than from any other single source. Ref: https://aphyr.com/tags/Jepsen

The Amiga was a beautiful machine, and had a beautiful OS in many regards. No memory protection, but the concepts were just wonderful compared to PC stuff at the time: flat memory model, everything was a linked list (there were very few har

Thanks for the detailed response. Seems quite compelling. How can I get my hands on an interesting sample (perhaps a very basic/simple web server that can serve up static html/images?)

Without an equally elegant/powerful test framework, this is just child's play. If the concept allows, as some have mentioned, to let non-programmers make changes, then a fully-integrated test framework is absolutely required. Othe

Actually, I learned 68000 assembly by hex-dumping a freeware assembler to find the full set of OpCodes and some reverse engineering. That, combined with some trial and error (and a few magazine articles that actually had a little bit of ASM

Yes, AbsExecBase, at 0x00000004 was the pointer to the exec library, from which you could get at anything on the Amiga. I still marvel at how everything was a linked list - quite a beautiful OS in some regards (if it wasn't for the l

I think the author jumps to some conclusions here - not sure what is cause and effect. Is it possible that people stricken by serious mental illness in these societies simply die? I have some experience with mental illness and I can see how

Yes, simplicity... what a concept. Something the software engineering discipline seems to either loathe, be afraid of, or just want to avoid at any cost. For example, why something as simple as 'git pull' has had so much confusi

Is this true? Does anyone have evidence of this claim? I hear it a lot, but I don't know. Many "drones" are build with super-tough carbon fiber frames. Additionally, LiPo batteries (very common in quad copters) can be quite h

This is also one of the best platforms for drone defense I've ever seen... Getting a rope tangled up in the props of a quad (even one with carbon fiber blades) would be a quick and easy way to bring it down.

The price tag is probably way less than a single helicopter shot in some movie budgets, so it seems like a steal to movie industry veterans who watch the demo reel. Every segment of their demo reel seems to have been filmed with a drone
