Bit weird that your first reaction to a human expressing genuine emotional pain is glee.

The creation is the actually enjoyable part. Taking a helicopter to the top of Everest is not as rewarding as climbing the mountain. You are completely discrediting the joy humans derive from actually -doing- the work, and not just, telling

Well, some people are innately physically stronger than others. For some things its just the truth that some people have "the drive" and some people don't.

Software quality has been declining for long before AI was a thing. Microsoft didn't need AI to make windows 11 as bad as it is. The incentives are large companies are fundamentally not in align with making high quality software people

Using LLMs in a similar way to already existing IDE features like refactor, find/replace, search is unambiguously a productivity increase. Whether using them for actual task completion purposes is good or not is unknown. But imagine th

I would say the inherently chaotic and continuous nature of the human brain can create novelty in a fundamentally different way than LLMs can. Like a human can reach into the chaos of their own emotions and pull something unique out. There

Being able to write a series of logically correct sentences down is not the same thing as intuiting human emotional experience. Or even related.

Your compiler can vectorise trivial things, once your code gets complicated it will no longer vectorise.

You could get a surface level understanding of TCP, or 99% of topic areas in computing, in less than 4 weeks of study. You could not get a surface level understanding of literally any of the maths in the link in less than 4 weeks of study.

None of what you listed is even 1% as intense as the mathematics in the link. Learning anything in maths requires weeks of hard effort, learning enough to be broadly comfortable in how an 8086 CPU works can be done in a weekend.

If a human makes something there should be broad protection for creativity, if a LLM generates something there should be extremely limited protection for creativity. You should not be able to mass generate images in a particular artists sty

I just mean, anything Tao writes that is related to AI will get on the front page, because Tao represents the authoritative voice of reason using AI tools. And this website is primarily for AI news.

Whether or not its legal to distil models, it is obviously morally permissible to do so. Anthropic, OpenAI, etc do not deserve legal protection.
