It was like that when Firefox first appeared as well. The solution was to email the webmasters and say, "your website doesn't work in Firefox. The URL is <url>, the browser version is <version>, and the operating syste

Example: self-destructing cookies automatically clears localStorage in Firefox after closing a tab (unless you toggle the setting on a per-site basis). I don't think Chrome can do that, even with its cookie destroying add-ons. When I o

I don't meditate, but I've found it useful to take some mornings or afternoons and go for 5-10 mile walks. I usually take a small notebook and some pens to write down ideas. If I don't have the notebook, I can still take note

If you're using Firefox, click "Reading view" (the book icon). In Chrome the Pocket extension should work.

You can add this bookmarklet to the Firefox or Chrom[e|ium] bookmarks bar to remove it with one click: javascript:document.getElementsByClassName('js-stickyFooter')[0].remove();

I wonder if it's a referrer check. `if referrer == 'facebook': display_ads()`. That way the original viewer doesn't see the ad-filled page, but anyone clicking on the Facebook link does.

You're quoting a guy from 40 years ago (1976) and making a slippery slope argument. Here is some more information on the Brady Campaign: "In November 2008, Brady president Helmke, a former Republican mayor of Fort Wayne, Indiana,

That comment sounds a bit polarized. I've never heard anyone in the US advocate banning all guns. I generally hear two perspectives from people: 1. the view that people should be allowed to buy guns after background checks and mandator

One more comment about it: This post ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=14536679 ) is an example of how AMP works. Someone has shared a link on HN. It's an AMP link, but I'm reading it on my laptop, and it'

I think that most people who are opposed to AMP aren't against it for personal reasons as much as for what it does to the open WWW. If you give up your long-term freedoms for perceived short-term personal convenience, you will end up i

Republishing copyrighted content on another domain without permission is copyright infringement. I don't know if Google's terms allow their republishing of copyrighted content via AMP, but most people in charge of those decisions

"Open source" in that context is a meaninless buzzword. It is not "open" when giant companies appify your content in their walled gardens, even if you can read part of the code.

Your content gets served on Google.com domain with a giant "back" button at the top that takes users back to Google rather than deeper into your site. It also creates restrictions on what you can publish and how you can monetize.
