> For example if they reported a bug and got a fix they diffed the binaries and looked at every difference to be sure that the change was a result of the fix, and nothing else (no, they didn’t want upgrades). That sounds pretty diligent!

I suppose that in practice you'd need to consider burst bandwidth and not just 95/99 percentiles.

Depending on the specifics, a threadpool proabably wouldn't help with a CPU bound task due to GIL limitations. `multiprocess.Pool` might (though process pools aren' without their overheads)

The photo of the record factory on that landing page weighs in at 9.84MB -- the margin probably goes towards AWS bandwidth costs!

I am curious -- why the 1:1 aspect ratio/FoV? A quick Google suggests the human eye is more like 5:3 (though vary variable).

It’s a single byte of information, maybe 4 at a push. It doesn’t take much to include and avoids a lot of ambiguity.

Fair enough. I’m just of the opinion that a single byte of extra data (assuming ASCII) conveys an awful lot of contextual information, and can see few reasons to exclude it.

I use a service called HN Notify to get email notifications when one of my comments has been replied to. It seems to work quite well. https://hnnotify.xyz (To the author of HN Notify: if you're reading this, thank you!)

I guess a basic implementation might compare the moves performed by the player under evaluation against the move that an engine would suggest? Presumably an excellent player might often make the same moves as an engine, so this measure alon

Depends where you are. In the UK and much of the EU it’s a pension, as far as I know. Either way, isn’t this mostly semantics? My point is that one persons priorities doesn’t necessarily match with another’s.
