Plus it had those fantastic illustrations by Rowitha Quadflieg! (which is decidedly the most Harry Potter-esque name I've ever read in real life).

I'm thinking of Death in Terry Pratchett's Discworld , who speaks in sᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘs.

The original 1979 edition of The Neverending Story was printed in two inks (red and green) depending if the action was set in the real word or in Fantastica. I wonder if more books use this technique?

Another technique is variation of language (synonyms), orthotypography, variations in the white space of the document... so you can take a blurry B&W picture but they still got you because your version was the one saying "amazing&q

Follow-up question: are they notifying the scooped contacts that they now hold their personal data, as required by Art. 14 of the GDPR? https://gdpr-info.eu/art-14-gdpr/

I miss native OneDrive Linux support, but otherwise it is quite good. I can even avoid running office in WINE most of the time. And in Windows the experience is very nice, specially the on-demand file sync.

In this line, I recommend A Day in the Life of Ancient Rome by Alberto Angela. The book is exactly that: a description of a day, from sunrise to sundown, in 115 CE Rome.

Good idea! I tried the domain-fronting curl request and it works, so they seem to be indeed sniffing the SNI...

Apologies if the usage is incorrect. They appear to indeed sniff the SNI and then inject a one-line website with a self-signed certificate: https://pastebin.com/RHwPWBug

They appear to do deep packet inspection looking at the SNI and insert an invalid certificate from Allot, redirecting the connection to a very short "Vodafone can't show you this" website: https://pastebin.com/

Nice, it appears that my parent's ISP is doing DPI and a MiTM attack to block Sci-Hub (and I do have a subscription to Nature).

It's indeed weird, INES 0 events are rarely reported... even levels 1 and 2 rarely are. Just yesterday there was one INES 1 anomaly here in Spain and 2 in France... that said the reading was super interesting, I get why it is on HN.

There used to be a 1€/month VPS at Aruba Cloud (big Italian provider) with 1 vCPU, 1GB RAM, 20GB Disk, 20 TB traffic, WMWare hypervisor... it was just fantastic, but sadly they finally increased it to 2.79€+VAT this summer and I left.
