I'd love to know more about the legalities of a company (that isn't a bank) withholding funds for months. PayPal must be making a pretty profit on the interest accrueing on those accounts.

Yup I do agree with you that the FAQs should come across as though they will do their absolute best to protect your financial data and restrict who can see it.

Honest question; in a small MVP like this, how would I, as a developer, ensure that I cannot access user data? I understand that you can encrypt at the app or database level, but at the end of the day I would have (or could get) the encrypt

I have one and I really like it, it's beautiful to use. I haven't used Android enough to compare it against, but having used an iPhone quite a bit, I think they're pretty even. iPhone is ahead on the the number and breadth of apps, but WP7

As @maw said, most top sites remove the http headers that identify the web-server. Also, if you had to take the top, I don't know, 10k sites by traffic, I would imagine all of them use a load-balancer, so how can netcraft know what the web-

Question; how does netcraft determine what web-server serves a particular domain? Most big sites hide those details in http headers, so how do they tell?

Ditto on the WP7 integration, think it would be a killer feature. Would fit perfectly with the model they've taken with 3rd party platforms; merging account details from multiple sources (e.g. twitter, facebook), so click on a contact and "

Fair enough. I did just read this - "Various parts of Hadoop are executed using shell scripts that will only work on a Linux shell.". Sounds like you need Cygwin (currently). Guess those are the bits that will be ported.

I'm confused, if Hadoop is Java, what is there to port? Won't it just run as-is on Windows (Azure supports Java already)

Haha, blame the client for copying and pasting between pages, that sounds fair. This is also a pretty good case study of why using authentication frameworks is a very good idea.

Sorry me too, you're asking for too many permissions, why not just read-only if it's auth only?

That code is filled with all sorts of horrors (Sql injection, passwords in plain-text in DBs, passwords sent in query-string, all logic in web-layer), but redirecting in a using block is ok, the disposers will always be called (outside of f

I think MS is sort of splitting Windows for casual users and power-users. Casual users will eventually use Metro for everything and not use the current desktop paradigm. Will take a while though.

I'm sure this is well intentioned, but wouldn't it leave employees to doubt whether they're taking too much leave (i.e. "Is my boss testing my Commitment?"). I can see how people may land up taking less leave due to fear of being judged to
