"But the backends were never a priority and ended up being hackish and hard to use for editors" This is our main problem, too. I don't have any data from our clients, but I have a feeling that being able to provide a clean, user-friendly, b

This is a nice idea. We build a lot of mobile apps, and we use a combination of the Django admin, and django-tastypie. This gets a JSON API up and running with authentication in very short order, but a product in this space would be very we

It completely baffles me, too. I've only met Zed once, it was at EuroDjangoCon in Prague a few years ago. Zed did a keynote speech, and afterwards in the lobby as he sat down near me, I told him how much I enjoyed it, just expecting the usu

That name is terrible. I'm sure it's a clever portmanteau, but I'm just seeing 'grope', which is not a pleasant association for your brand.

Django Weekly. It's a newsletter with interesting Django articles, code, and job vacancies. It grew explosively in the first few weeks in January, but the growth has levelled off at around +10 signups/week. http://djangoweek.ly/

This seems quite MS-centric, but if you're the Tom Bell I think you are (UK, North- West?), then I know you're an MS guy, so all is forgiven ;-) One note; pip isn't really a deployment system for Python, it's more of a package installation

I also went through the book in school, I learnt so much from it. Back then, I only had a single computer, so while I didn't really need your computer for day-to-day work (or at least, it was rarely required to maintain my income), it force

I actually switched my banking to HSBC just for the Xero integration. I'm surprised more services haven't picked up on the potential of HSBCnet (the technology behind the integration) - I can see it being incredibly useful for all the mint.

Could this even be a free text field? Some may prefer to put hourly, per project, or even equity stakes in their terms. Yes, it makes your data a little more difficult to filter, but the flexibility would be nice.

Hi Andrew. I've just registered, looks like a great service. A few initial impressions: I'd like to be able to express my pricing in both an hourly rate and full project value. Also, support for multiple currencies would be nice, there will

I think this is a great idea for an app. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to ignore some common CSS reset and CSS framework stylesheets to lower the number of false positives; when I scan my site I get a lot of unused selectors f

I'm currently working on a startup, and while our market isn't crowded by any means, I think having a few strong competitors puts us in a better position - they've made the mistakes so we don't have to. Each competitor I see certainly nudge

I agree with your point, but consider the 'Hacker' in 'Hacker News', that has very negative connotations in mainstream language (thanks, media industry!), but the type of smart, gets-things-done people who use this site can see through the

I've got to say, you're handling a lot of negative criticism very well. Kudos. I don't understand why anyone would feel let down by their signature - you need seriously low self-esteem to feel that your scratch on a page is something worth

I think your idea is ridiculous. I'm not sure how you plan on overcoming years of muscle memory in order to provide... what? Some kind of extension of my personal brand? I really don't care what my signature looks like. I can't even remembe
