Well put. I'm following now, and I agree. I still maintain that it's pointless to lash out at the snarky commenters... If they ARE being snarky, lashing out isn't going to help, and if they aren't, we'll risk alienating to genuine commenter

I honestly don't believe it's fair to not interpret the maybes as name calling. Even so, the "But you ... represent one of the worst forces at work in the world" cannot possibly be defended as not a personal attack. Come on! I would not say

I understand, and this helps me resolve a contradiction of understanding I've had for a while. I always thought of the sardonic saying "I want to be different, just like everyone else." I get it though - the idea is to still identify with a

Exactly. It didn't seem like ridiculing, and it was certainly a thought I had as well: is the app viable as a spreadsheet without formulas? I think it is - I like the concept, agree that people use spreadsheet for far more than calculations

You really don't think pg's comment was meant to hurt feelings? This is pretty freaking harsh, and I imagine would trigger a feeling of defensiveness in almost anyone: "Maybe you think you're making some sort of important point here. Or may

Maybe you're reading way too much into their comment, and unfairly jumping into a judgement? I didn't sense the same feeling of ridicule. If the founders are on here, how did you take it? I interpreted it his question as genuinely wondering

Off topic, but I find it puzzling that there's basically a handbook for a subculture trying to be different. It seems like a logical impossibility for a subculture to actually be unique and different, when there's essentially a dress code (

You'd only have to type in the password for an email you don't care about from the unsecured computer, as long as you knew ahead of time to forward the things you needed to print from the library computer. The web server method seems a litt

I think having a second gmail address just for emailin yourself files for public computers might work for you. Keep your personal email safe, and forward what you need to the other address. It's a good compromise. Don't underestimate how vu

Well, let's not say "never" going to happen... I'd like to think that _someday_ gigabit internet will be the norm. :)

Jesus, I just got like 2 dozen texts all at once before #pause worked. Thanks, I love paying for my texts. It should NOT start until you text #play, as it seemed like it would.

I can use it at 2880x1800 when I'm sitting down at a table and can sit still close to it, but it's too small for casual use. I've mostly been using 1920x1200. It is impressive though!

I just got one last night. I am overall very impressed, although I agree that it really is jarring to hit an app that's not designed for Retina. Have you tried running the native resolution? It gives you tons of real estate and avoids the r

Working with pointers in C or C++ is a decidedly lower level construct that Lisp. Not to make any sort of value judgement between the two languages - but with a c pointer, you are accessing a very specific point in memory. If you're pointin

Where's the attitude and negativity coming from? Far from being "heretohelp", you're being unconstructive and frankly, a dick.

I think that people are way overreacting to these ads. They're not great - I don't like them. I didn't like Mac vs. PC ads either. Apple has made mistakes while Steve Jobs was there too. Think of the cube, of antennagate, of all the cracks

I definitely find this topic interesting and have a hard time remembering all my passwords, but I'm not fan of this solution. Honestly, how isn't this just a worse implementation of OAuth? It seems equivalent to clicking a "login via gmail"

I agree. This makes iMessage so frustrating, as I've got two threads with a lot of people - one associated with my phone number (started on my phone) and another associated with my email (started on my iPad).

I know where you're coming from, but I'd like to present a counterpoint based on a potential misunderstanding. On the one hand, repetition expressed as writing the same code over and over again smells of poor engineering. Abstraction, code

I think the known crappy app the commenter was referring to was the Gmail iPhone app, not Gmail in general. The app isn't nearly as good as Sparrow.

I'd also suggest that you add some margin to your bullets - as it stands now the bullet is further left than the text, and then the text lines up with adjoining paragraphs. I think it would look better if the _bullets_ lined up with the oth
