Oh, you mean that a PDF cannot be resized? Because the LaTeX document itself is very simple to "resize", by changing paper type, font size, num columns, etc, and you don't have to compile to PDF, you can compile to EPUB or HT

Whisper supports adding a context, and if you're transcribing a phone call, you should probably add "Transcribe this phone call with Gem" , in which case it would probably transcribe more correctly.

From what I've read, AlphaFold2 is a minor improvement over other solvers, and only in some cases. It makes many more mistakes and misleading results than classic solvers. But don't take my word for it, it's way outside of my

Exactly. The tech itself isn't driving the mission --- the funding model is. "AI" right now feels less like the internet in ’95 and more like crypto in 2021: massive hype, vague promises, and any social benefit is incidental

The article keeps referring to "AI" as if it's a coherent, agreed-upon thing. It's not. "AI" is a marketing term that's been applied to whatever happens to look impressive at the moment---right now, that&

This completely undermines the purpose of peer-reviewing, though. If it's necessary to do your own peer-reviewing for a publishing house, it could just as well be arxiv.

Why would you want your stuff in PLOS? That's a huge red flag on a CV. Why not put it on (bio)arxiv and be done with it? It's not peer reviewed in either case.

You sound very sad that your Corolla isn't good. I would get rid of it, if I were you. However, 6 issues with a 20 year old car doesn't sound that bad to me. Edit: By the way, you can easily get a 2023 Corolla for less than 23k

Suppose you repeat this every day, and every day the bus arrives a random time between "now" and in (let's say) 30 minutes. There is a strategy that allows you to never be worse than 2x if you knew exactly when the bus arrive

Here's a different version of the problem. It takes 10 minutes to walk home from the bus central. The bus is late but should be here any minute now. The bus takes one minute. Do you wait or walk?
