I never thought about it before, but I think I visualize stack frames. Local variables are registers or just memory in the stack frame. Objects are pointers. "Where I've been" is prior frames on the stack. "Where is this

Yeah, new rule: I don't believe anything in a published scientific paper until it has been independently verified for the third time. I don't even want to hear about it, before then, unless I read the journal the original (or se

Maybe we will have to replace "open source" with "spec driven". As you point out, open source can be just as bad as closed source, given future changes in direction by the project team. But "spec driven" means

Agree. It'd be nice if there were some universal "just take me to the source" feature in media. I know most of what I see on YouTube is just other people reacting to, or re-reading, or generally regurgitating prior people

I use hckrnews.com mainly because it only shows things that made it to the top page. It's an easy way to filter. If they can do that, it seems anybody could do anything with the content.

I'm sorry I didn't RTFA, but I wonder if there's a correlation / causation issue here. Did the "agile" projects fail because they were agile, or because their project management methodology was prescribed by ma

That's a succinct way to put it. Does anybody have any suggestions for following up on this line of thinking? I wonder what other, maybe technical scenarios, where this might also be true? It's better for an error message to expla

I'm having fun jumping into this conflict. Since I'm unabashedly on one side of the argument, I feel equipped and compelled to weigh in. The work my small team does is well documented, and when we execute our plans, we can click &

I'm a full stack Microsoft tech stack web dev since the days of asp classic. It's cool that the tech industry is big enough for all of us. I am not sure what the ClickOps mentality is, but I'm pretty sure I have it. Peace.

I wouldn't have to search for apps, if they'd just show a handful of the most recently used apps. This is what boggles my mind, that they don't monitor which apps are being launched, how often, and promote those to the top of

I'd agree if Power Apps had a programming language backing it up. Say what you want about VBA, but it's at least a programming language. The databases and UIs were often just along for the ride, in my experience. The ability to r
