Many of those people and companies are coming to Austin. Austin is already awash with leftist values and California transplants. The people moving here can probably stay in an echo chamber here as well.

It depends on what you’re walking to and for. I walk several miles a day in Austin’s parks and green belt areas. I’m thankful for where I live during COVID.

I do a form of rucking and highly recommend it. I don’t think traditional rucking gear is optimal though. The backpack format puts more strain on your back and most rucking forums and such I’ve seen recommend only like 30lbs. The most amazi

I loathe running and also still can’t manage it, but I’ve walked a tremendous amount in the past year and it’s helped my health tremendously, so I highly recommend it. In the beginning a normal walking speed would get my heart rate up, but

I’m very familiar with this having recently lost exactly 2lbs per week for many weeks to hit a 35lb total. At least in my experience it really is much easier to lose weight initially. Not sure if there are studies on this or just anecdotes.

These people were significantly overweight, from almost obese to morbidly obese(by BMI). From such a starting condition initial weight loss can be extremely rapid, yet after 12 weeks they lost only .94 kg?

They are constantly looking for people looking at their phone while driving. Quite regularly in certain areas, like along Cesar Chavez downtown. I know because I've been ticketed!

$250/mo is a pretty generous number to compare against. Our >2500 sqft house averages under $100/mo. With the fairly extreme heat we have in in Texas, and A/C set to frigid while we’re home our bill _peaks_ at ~$150 in Au

RE #2 IME disabling the “require attention” setting just reduces the degree to which you have to obstruct your vision. You’re still obstructing your vision much more and for longer than with fingerprint unlock.

FaceID is a downgrade for my usage primarily because it requires you to be looking fairly directly at the phone to unlock(even with that “require attention” setting turned off). There are countless times when I want to casually unlock and c

My pet peeve with their horrific UI is that rather than underlining what you have selected they _overline_ it.

I know nothing of economics, but I’m curious how relevant comparing against our own historical productivity actually is. For example, shouldn’t the comparison also be against productivity and productivity/wage growth in other countries

Most PC based VR games I've seen already use greatly cut down graphics compared to traditional games, even while running at current headset resolutions where the screen door effect is fairly noticeable. But VR can be so much fun that y

SQL window functions aren't rocket science(not that I've used them much, cause ORMs and popular stripped down DBs like MySQL tend to not support them very well), but they do a lot more than you think if you're comparing them

Actually both #1 and #2 seem almost entirely unimportant to me, the end user, and great examples of their prioritizing the needs and wants of Apple and its designers to the detriment of end users. Appearing like the previous mouse provides

The PG docs are surprisingly good. Good enough to learn from. I remember learning my first SQL back in like 1999 or 2000 by reading the PG docs in the back of my parents minivan. Good times!

Glucose is _not_ taste-neutral. Just less sweet than table sugar. Grab a bag of dextrose from AMZN and try it.

I remember someone commenting a while back that with hash indexes allowing you to navigate relationships in O(1} time, relational DBs can approximate the perf characteristics of a graph DB. When I did a quick and dirty test a couple years a

Austin is a great place to be. I haven't found a place with better balance of big city amenities and pay/cost of living ratio. You can live here as cheap(used to have $325 rent with one roommate) or as spendy as you prefer. Been living here
