SOrry, I meant 'from the consumer point of view'. Once the billions are spent, I just update my version. Yes so far the AI takeover is overblown. I see that changing - at some point, the AI functionality will improve to the point

The argument balances on, AI Doesn't Care. Well, put that module in, then it does care. The advantage to AI (why it will never go away) is that it can be updated, universally, on a dime. With new techniques, skills, logic and ultimatel

Science fiction investigated so much. Like, if AI can control our technology directly, why do we need to be in the equation? We've invented a superior intellect. In every way it exceeds our own.

My bank AI support says it solved my problem, fixed my account and so on. And then precisely nothing happens. It's maddening. I just go into the bank now, and talk to a VP. How does that improve the situation?

In my personal history, no self-made backup tool has ever produced any good result in a failure. It's a case of, if you haven't tried it, it doesn't work. And who tests their backup?

It takes a billion dollars and years to produce a new chip fab line. So no, it cannot just be produced for you on a dime.

What if you end up with unmaintainable junk? What if it almost works, and you have to fix it, and you have no idea how? None of this is new ground. I admit at first, I thought the title meant, what if I can fix the issue faster than you can

Reminds me of the copper statue-of-liberty program at a similar time. Local youth groups (largely the Scouts) would do a fundraiser for the pedestal, then a foundry in Kansas City would ship you a six-foot (or so) replica in metal. Still ca

Of course, do it with vats of plant cells in floating oceanic CO2 factories. Not in your living room. Or, just let the oceans recover, let the mollusks return to the bays and shores, let them do their efficient thing.

All of us prioritize our lives over cybersecurity. This whole security theatre game was thrust upon us. It has no bearing on our real lives; it's just a task we've been given with a dozen different rules and dire consequences.

A bold prediction. Phones have gigabytes today. There are famous laws of growth that put terabytes at just a few years away - perhaps 10 isn't too bad an estimate?
