Yes. And if that moves something forward - good! For me this gamification works. Yes I do commits I feel more proud of than others. Yes, I 'cheat' and create tons of projects which makes it easy to find stuff to commit. And yes, k

For me gamification works. I'm a sucker for the stats Github can display for a project. And keeping that streak going. I've started to throw all my embarrasing, childish project onto github. If someone files a comment regarding ho

And step 1 is the key (no pun intended) difference with what is described in the linked post. The scheme described in the post is basically a keyless secret splitting (steganography), not key based encryption. But adding an image with good

This is an interesting, good 'up the ante' (or follow up) from MS to Mozilla. Mozilla announced waay back at the end of 2010 that it will phase out support for certs using MD5 and 1024 bit keys: https://wiki.mozilla.org

I have now tried Jytter on OSX (MBA with Ivy Bridge Core i7). I get about 50 kbps from jytter. Testing the data with Dieharder I get about 82% success rate on the test cases.

Havege and other CPU-based entropy sources are interesting. But they do implicit assumptions such as that the TSC is somehow giving you real measurements (and is not virtualized for example) and that the CPU has cache memories, do out-of-or

But moving from AES and SHA to RC4 and MD5 should have made a few bells go if simply because it is bad engineering and shows lack of knowledge. If we want to move away from MD5 and RC4 we first must start deprecating their usage wherever we

(disclaimer, I'm one of the Salsa20 in TLS draft authors). Note that the suggestion of using Salsa20 is to replace RC4 not only to get better performance, but because RC4 is broken (as you know). Salsa20 (and ChaCha) can be implemented

Actually, RC4 is pretty memory hungry (with a state of 256 bytes) and performs a lot of read operations that hit main store in small devices.
